FallsFest comes of age this year, turning 21 after a remarkable 20th Anniversary celebration in 2005! Since its inception FallsFest has continued to develop, improve, and evolve into the premier outdoor festival that remains an affordable event for the entire family. Yet again in 2006, FallsFest has been voted by the Wichita Falls community as Texoma’s Best All-Around Event AND Texoma’s Best Festival.
Endeavors to make this “fest for y’all” bigger and better began when the record breaking 64-member steering committee undertook their respective challenges in early 2006. Their dedication, along with over 1,700 League and community volunteers giving over 12,000 hours, will again bring to fruition another successful FallsFest. Local businesses also play a foundational role through their generous sponsorships. Continued faithful underwriting of FallsFest has allowed over $1,150,000 to be returned to the Wichita Falls community through partnering entities since 1986.
Lucy Park will hold something for everyone during the weekend of September 29-30. Our Texas-size entertainment lineup, including FallsFest Idol and Battle of the Bands competitions, is nothing short of extraordinary. Adults and kids alike will be able to turn up the heat in the Chili Cookoff while serious and not so serious motorcycle enthusiasts line up for the Nuts & Bolts Run. For those who prefer activities with a more competitive edge, the FallsFest sporting events will offer a variety of action packed opportunities. Kids of all ages will be enticed and entertained by this year’s attractions, including the first ever skateboard exhibition. And finally, when night falls on Lucy Park, oohhs and aahhs will follow the rhythmic bursts of colorful fireworks over the park skies. Y’all won’t want to miss the explosion of family fun and the biggest celebration in the Falls.
It is with great pride and excitement that we welcome all of Wichita Falls, from the hundreds of volunteers to the thousands of festival goers, to join in our “fest for y’all.”
